ELECTRICITY UTILITIESRENEWABLE GENERATIONRAPSTELECOMMUNICATIONS

GSM service providers worldwide rely on diesel generation as a primary source of electrical power at remote telecommunications sites where utility power is unavailable. The GSM industry sees a pressing need to find better substitutes for power supply as diesel generation is expensive. Moreover, the majority of greenhouse gas emissions within the mobile phone industry come from these base diesel-equipped base stations.

While lead-acid batteries are used in some BTS installations, these are often regarded as high cost and short lived components in this daily cycling environment. Typically, the average electrical load for a BTS is 1 kW to 3 kW, a size which is well within the capability of a 5 kW RedFlow ZBM based energy storage system.

Even for sites where renewable electricity supply is not an option, the use of RedFlow ZBMs can help reduce diesel fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. RedFlow ZBMs configured for such an application, can significantly reduce generator running time by collecting excess generated energy from the generally oversized diesel generator.
